Toshiba has announced a PCI-E add-in card that uses a cell processor to accelerate the transcoding of H.264, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 entirely in hardware. It has 128MB of XDR memory to aid in the process, and will be available for $250-$300. At that price however, I don’t think its worth it, especially with that small fan(small fans are noisy).
